The first step to receiving any aid is creating a Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID, then completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Our school FAFSA code is 009336.

Go to studentaid.gov

Click Create an Account (top right of the home screen)

Answer personal identifiable information such as: SSN #, Birthday, address, etc.

Create your account early! It could take up to 3 days before you are able to use it.

Things to Remember:

  • FAFSA is FREE; if asked to pay, you're on the wrong site. 
  • The parent and student should both create a FSA ID prior to starting the form.
  • Use your PERSONAL email
  • Write down the phone #, email, and password that you create for future use.

Fully covers tuition and fees! JCC students receive at least $3,000, additional funds can be used for other necessities. Student must be:

  • NC resident and eligible for in-state tuition
  • High school graduate (or high school equivalency)
  • Household has annual Adjusted Gross Income of $80,000 or less, and Student Aid Index is 7,500 or less
  • Enrolled in an eligible undergraduate curriculum program
  • At least 6 credit hours per semester
  • Meeting the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards.

Applying is simple, just submit the FAFSA form. If you’re eligible, you'll automatically receive the Next NC Scholarship.

Smart Teaser

Students who have/will receive a high school credential from a Johnston County high school in 2024 or 2025 can attend JCC for up to two-years TUITION FREE! Students must:

  • Be admitted to a curriculum program
  • Complete FAFSA
  • Complete the NC Residency Determination Service (RDS) Form, and determined as a resident of North Carolina by the Residency Determination Service
  • Enroll in at least six credit hours per semester
  • Must have a 2.0 GPA at the end of the Spring term after the first year of JoCo Commissioners Promise (second year requirement)
